Fly the freak flag high

I used to see these folks on the streets of Lawrence all the time. From time to time I still do, but not in the same numbers. I miss them.

A couple of years ago, the New York Times ran a story about a new slogan for Austin, Texas, that had originated out of nowhere: “Keep Austin Weird.” I was jealous when I read the story, thinking Lawrence should have come up with something like that.

Keep Lawrence Freaky? Is it already too late?
