Magickal Politics | Key 23 | Occulture Evolved

The one thing all magicians seek from politics then, is for a world that allows them to live their life the way they want to live it. The political differences between magicians tend to come as a result of the degrees by which the magician is prepared to extend that same freedom to others.

Some magicians take an authoritarian stance, supporting one of the many authoritarian political ideologies out there that they imagine would give them the greatest potential to live their life the way they want. They seek positions of control and authority within magical groups and orders and see it as the magicians right or destiny to rule over the less powerful. Magicians of this nature have been labelled 'archontic magicians' by some of their opposite number.

At the opposite extreme is the anarchist magician. We must be wary of the term anarchist, for their are groups of 'anarchists' out there that have fallen foul of varying degrees of dogma, but I use the term here in its loosest sense. The goal of the anarchist is freedom from all oppression and non-consensual control.

Witchita Eagle | 10/30/2005 | The creepiest painting in Witchita

For generations, Witchita schoolchildren have scared themselves silly when viewing "The Pit" during tours of the Witchita Art Museum.

The large painting (measuring 60 inches tall by 37 inches across) depicts a shattered city, a hellish inferno of fire, wreckage, madness and despair.

The nightmarish jumble of shrieking ghosts and bloody limbs stuns most viewers.

"'The Pit' is too much," said Stephen Gleissner, chief curator of the Witchita Art Museum. "You must dare to spend even 10 minutes (viewing it) because it is so harrowing."

ThepiT_wichitaartmuseum

A large white ghoul snarls at the right of the picture -- but focus and it becomes a battered wall. A bright, shrouded skeleton plummets earthward -- and becomes tongues of white-hot fire.

A flock of snow-white birds flies over the destruction -- to become paper blowing and twisting on a furnace blast.

At the top of the picture, a steam cloud drips blood from a grimacing mouth -- but the art museum's catalog describes that as "the moon-like face of Mother Europa."

Sunday lunch with... A witch

I'd like to consider myself hip enough to be unfazed by the fact that FireFox's new book is titled Sexy Witch (paperback, 314 pages, $14.95) and offers advice on incorporating sex-positive "magickal rituals," like drawing pictures of your vulva, into your daily life. And I'm certainly cool enough not to expect her to be wearing a pointy black hat or anything like that.

But I guess I was hoping for an impressively goth-style outfit, with maybe a black leather bustier or something, and definitely some borderline-scary makeup. Possibly a black manicure or something along those lines.

Wife, mom, anarchist

Instead, FireFox looks exactly like the fresh-scrubbed Northern California mom she actually is. Her fair skin is clear and bright; her tattoos barely peak out from underneath her sleeves. She is polite and sweet and happy to meet me, which is really a bit jarring, since reading her book has me feeling sort of crusty and conservative. I'm so ready to dislike her.

But FireFox, 34, is extremely difficult to dislike. And, as she chirpily tells me about her early life as the child of hippies, her cheerful, casual tone implies that life now is way more "normal."

what people blurbed about the book:

A 21st Century toolkit for today's warrior witch! LaSara Firefox's Sexy Witch initiates readers into the multi-faceted mysteries of magick, mind and ritual. From the sacred to the profane, from the spiritual to the physical, a must-read for all modern witchy women. -Richard Metzger, The Disinformation Company Ltd.

This witty and smart, well-researched gem of a book has the power to transform the feminist movement at the radical roots - womens bodies and their sexuality. any woman who wants to understand, enhance, reclaim or heal her sexuality, this book is a must. to liberate your sisters as well as the men and women who love them. -Anodea Judith, Ph.D., author of Wheels of Life and Eastern Body, Western Mind.

There is nothing 'sexy' in this book. This book should not even have the word "Witch" in its title. This book is more about alternative sexual practices than anything to do with the Craft. We are talking alternative with a capital "A". Write love songs and love poetry to your vagina, dye your pubes, taste your vaginal secretions, play with your menstrual blood and do it all using the most foul names that you can think of to call your vagina. This is just a few of the 'lovely' rituals and exercises listed in this book.
- Rhianna Moonmyst, (Ohio)

A radical and subversive text for transformation and empowerment. The practices in this book have the potential for deep healing and complete awakening. A must read for all who wish to change the world. -Noah Levine, author of Dharma Punx

He said Galani had told his interrogators that he wanted to stop the ceremony as the elders who were installing Kikwete were bogus Sukuma elders.

’He said that he wanted to stop the installation ceremony because people who were conducting the exercise were not chiefs, but mere traditional healers,’ he said....

The RPC further said that when inspected, Galani was found to be in possession of a number of talismanic material (hirizi) of varying colours and sizes, a piece of black cloth and 56, 960/- cash.

’When we interrogated him, he said the witchcraft concoctions belonged to a traditional healer who he gave his as Nzaki Jamal Abdallah or Lutano Severino.

The healer is a resident of Kiloleli on the outskirts of Mwanza city. We have arrested Severino.

Who finances the witch-burnings in africa? What am I talking about? Why am I linking to this? read this:

In one decade alone, (1991 to 2001), Tanzania had 20,000 persons accused of witchcraft, murdered by her citizenry--a disproportionate number of the suspected witches were female octogenarians. Tanzania's Ministry of Home Affairs claimed that 5,000 victims of witch lynching were murdered between 1994 and 1998, all suspected by fellow Tanzanians of magical high jinks.[7] Red eyes, believed to be the mark of a witch, sparked many of these tragic neighborhood witch-hunts. Apparently, many Tanzanian women possess red eye color due to the smoke of their cooking fires.[8] If the execution of grandmothers isn't horrific enough; trials by ordeal are making a comeback as the means of identifying a person as either a witch or sorcerer. During the nineteenth century, thousands of Africans were killed in trials by ordeal, by something known as the poison oracle. (From 1828 to 1861, over 200,000 persons were killed in poison ordeals administered by the Medina ruling class of Madagascar.[9] One of the greatest witch slaughters in world history, this witch paranoia depopulated entire Malagasy villages and towns.) Currently, in Eastern Africa, to prove their innocence, accused witches aren't subjected to the poison ordeal, but the "witch" is given a sporting chance to retrieve a bracelet from a pot of boiling water. The theory behind this practice is that an innocent party won't receive burn marks on his, or her, arms. The unlucky ones failing the ordeal have a nail driven through their head or they are administered some other form of ghastly execution--usually a death sentence via benzene fire.[10]

WITCHCRAFT, SORCERY, MAGIC AND OTHER PSYCHOLOGICAL PHENOMENA AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS ON MILITARY AND PARAMILITARY OPERATIONS IN THE CONGO

James R. Price
Paul Jureidini

This unusual document, "Witchcraft, Sorcery, Magic, and Other Psychological Phenomena, and Their Implications on Military and Paramilitary Operations in the Congo," was prepared for the U.S. Army in 1964. The report is a treatise on paranormal combat, discussing "counter-magic" tactics to suppress rebels who are backed by witch-doctors, charms, and magic potions....

Any study of historical examples of uprisings supported by superstitious practices, however, will reveal that vigorous military counter-measures of a conventional nature have produced optimum results in suppressing the insurgency. If there are substantial political or economic motives behind the uprisings, these naturally must be taken into account. The reference here is to military tactics and their effects against magic.

Pyramid found in Bosnia | Technoccult: where art, science, and the occult meet

Europe’s first Pyramid:

Near the city of Visoko, 30 km north of Sarajevo, there is a stone pyramid of monumental size, claims the Bosnian archeologist Semir Osmanagić, who lives and works in the USA.

After several months of geological and archeological research, Mr. Osmanagić concluded that under the present hill of Visočica hides a stairs-like pyramid, about 12,000 years old. Osmanagić, who intensively researched on pyramids in Americas, Asia and Africa for the last 15 years and wrote several books on the subject, says he’s quite sure he found the first pyramid in Europe, which is quite similar to ones in the Southern America.

LA to be destroyed by tidal wave - prophecy

MESSAGE BY SIDNEY HAS NO HORSES: OCTOBER 17, 2005
>
> RETYPED TRANSCRIPT OF THE COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS HELD IN EAGLE BUTTE, SOUTH
> DAKOTA ON OCTOBER 4, 2005, REGULAR OCTOBER SESSION.
>
ROBERT WALTERS: Mr. Chairman, thank you and Council, with us is Sidney Has No Horses. He is a medicine man from Oglala and Mr. Chariman, he has a message that he's going to all the tribes, all the reservations with that came out of a ceremony and I feel it's a good message. I visited Mr. Has No Horses and so at this time, I'd like to get the floor for him.
>
> SIDNEY HAS NO HORSES: Mitakuye Oyasin. All my relatives. I'd like to get in the middle if I could, I really don't like to use the mic. My name is Sidney Has No Horses. I'm from the Pine Ridge Reservation. You probably know my father, his name was Dawson Has No Horses. He was a yuwipi man, a powerful medicine man. My grandfather's name is Frank Fools Crow. He was also a powerful medicine man. Six months ago, we had a ceremony, in this ceremony, two angels came to me and they talked to me and they told us of the devastation that would happen to the islands and the Indian Ocean. They told us of the earthquakes that would hit japan. They told us of the earthquakes that will hit South American and the they also told us of the Tsunami that wiped out all the people and they told us of the hurricanes that came to Florida, the one that came to New Orleans and the one that went to Texas. There's one more hurricane coming to wipe out another city. Two weeks ago, we has a ceremony, Sitting Bull came in and he talked to me; Crazy Horse , he talked to me; Chief Big Foot talked to me and they asked me to go to the Seven Council Fires and to the Council People and to warn all of these Fires, within six months. There's going to be a tidal wave that's going to wipe out Los Angeles. Within six months, there 's going to be an eruption in the northwest with the volcanoes. Two eruptions within six months. They say from the eruptions of theses volcanoes, the ash is coming, the Missouri River will be destroyed. They say the water that we drink from the ground is going to be no longer drinkable. These hardships are coming because God is bringing this. Whether you believe in Christianity, Native American Church or the traditional way, if you read the Bible, we are going into the fourth seal. There's diseases coming that are going to wipe out our children and like this man said here, meth -methaphetamine on our rez is very bad too. If we don't stop that, it's going to destroy the next generation. Many vegetables are going to be born into our tribes. When I'm done here, I am going to Standing Rock and I am going to stand in front of them, their council and tell them the same thing I am telling you now. This winter is going to be very cold for a long time. Ranchers are going to lose their horses and cows because it is not going to warm up. The price of propane is going to skyrocket and sometimes they are not going to be able to deliver the propane to our families. This food issue in the Bible, it says one day there will be no food in the store's shelves. If you look at the hurricane, a lot of the stores, there's no food on the shelves. These people lost their homes. They can't drink the water and so I come because of the mighty chiefs that talked to me and because of who I am. They tell me, I need to warn the tribes. Today, I came here without announcement, but to see you all gathered like this, I know God is on my side to see you gathered. The Sisseton-Wahpeton tomorrow will be gathered at 10o'clock and they will hear what I have to hear. The Flandreau people are going to be waiting for me tomorrow evening. I 'm going up to Fort Yates here, I'm going to talk to them even if it's after hours and so I thank you very much for letting me come in and I'm thankful that I got all of you together at the same time. I offer you all a handshake. My name is Sidney Has No Horses. I'm from Batesland, South Dakota. You might want to write this down. My phone number is 605-288-0097. We incorporated ourselves through the State of South Dakota to let you know that we are serious. Within six months, we are going to be living in hell of a world and these chiefs have talked to me, and my cousins. If you ever want a ceremony, you get ahold of us and we will bring you a ceremony to let you believe. But the chiefs tell me, some of you have good hearts. Some of you have good mind. Some of you have spirituality. You are the people that will take heed on the words I bring and there's a lot of people that didn't believe us when everything we told them has happened and my President, Cecilia Fire Thunder, I talked to her yesterday and she supports because everything I told her would happen to our tribe has happened. The power of God, he knows what he's bringing to us and in three years, as the keepers of Mother Earth, if the Seven Fires do not come together, there's going to be a meteorite that will be coming and it's going to hit off of San Francisco and they told us that the Seven Council Fires,, theses Seven Fires never has hate and jealousy toward each other. I've been trying to get the medicine men of Oglala to be in unity, but they can't and now God asked me to come and get all the Tribal Councils together and all the tribes together. That's a very hard job that he's giving me. I'm very nervous as I stand here in front of you, but I tried to look you all in the eye to let you know that I'm for real and so at this time, there are food for thought, things you can think about in the next six month and this little time you have given me. I thank you. Now I'm going to Standing Rock. I will be going to every reservation.. Maybe the tribal members will get together and at least the tribal presidents will have a ceremony for all you to hear and believe in God. All my relatives. Mitakuye Oyasin. You have my phone number and so if any questions, please contact me.

Generation Hex

I'll be honest, before I read this, I didn't know what I thought of it... Now, I'm about 2/3rds through this book.

This is the most important book on the occult I've read since Prime Chaos by Phil Hine. The essay Spooky Tricks alone is worth the price of admission. Rachel Haywire's Eris Is My Biatch is fucking amazing. Stephen Grasso's piece on personal evolution is strong, and James Curcio's piece is an unexpectedly straight-forward pragmatic approach to a field only dimly apprehendable in Joseph Campbell's body of work.

It is likely that I may have manifested some negative misgivings about this book prior to it's publication, & if that's the case, I formally retract anything that can be construed as negative. This book is profound, and I'll present a full review once finished.

There is an incredible lack of direct and accessible texts in this area on the bookshelves. It's almost unsettling to come across a book this goddamned good in the occult section, amidst the rabble and dreck released alongside. If you can only afford one book on the occult this year, BUY THIS ONE & Change your life.

A remote control that controls humans - Innovation - MSNBC.com

Oh, like you didn't think this was coming...

A special headset was placed on my cranium by my hosts during a recent demonstration at an NTT research center. It sent a very low voltage electric current from the back of my ears through my head _ either from left to right or right to left, depending on which way the joystick on a remote-control was moved.

I found the experience unnerving and exhausting: I sought to step straight ahead but kept careening from side to side. Those alternating currents literally threw me off.

The technology is called galvanic vestibular stimulation — essentially, electricity messes with the delicate nerves inside the ear that help maintain balance.

I felt a mysterious, irresistible urge to start walking to the right whenever the researcher turned the switch to the right. I was convinced — mistakenly — that this was the only way to maintain my balance.

The phenomenon is painless but dramatic. Your feet start to move before you know it. I could even remote-control myself by taking the switch into my own hands.
i'm somewhat surprised by how many people just don't get the joke

The Invisibles V.1, #10 notations

okay this caught my eye:

LSD has a resonant frequency of 11,000 cps (cycles per second) and when the brain is exposed to that frequency hallucinations and other bizarre phenomena are reported. The experiencer has a psychedelic trip from the chemical frequency, without requiring the actual chemical.

so... here's the apparent source:

LSD vibrates at about 11,000 cps. A tone was obtained from this vibrating molecule, and a large poster of its molecular structure was made. By focusing on the chemical formula on the poster and playing the sound harmonic/tone of the LSD molecule, a fabulous psychedelic trance was experienced by eight volunteers, men and women. No side effects, unpleasant emotions or after effects were experienced. The subjects remained in the Theta brainwave through the entire three hour experience. Many OOBE, time travel, and "clairsenses" experiences were reported and monitored.

The experiment was repeated at other times with close controls, and similar experiences were reported. The information from these experiments was truly, truly amazing, fabulous, fantastic -- to put it mildly. The psychokinetic and telekinetic feats were, I think, unparalleled in the history of parapsychological research. A new biochemistry and pharmacology can emerge from this study. I have passed this information to our Russian colleagues for future study, for it is their specialty -- paraphysics and biological radio. Ironically, the CIA and KGB are familiar with two alkaloid substances known as telepathine and astraline. The former is in the chemistry handbook, the latter is new. Interesting names! Thank you my friends.

Taking that into account, last night I played 11,000 HZ sine wave for as long as I could stand it. (It's really fucking annoying, and Gargy looked at me like I was torturing her deliberately)

no tracers, but I was pretty tranced out.

I'd like to expirement with this more... can anyone recommend a good 11,000 cycles per second generator? I'm going to play around with this one for now...

Hunter S. Thompson is dead and I don't feel so well myself. | newWitch Magazine

If witchcraft is the art of changing reality or the art of revealing the hidden, then Hunter was indeed a master. The sad truth is, too often in modern Paganism we think that we're the first ones to come along who really understand this. There have been witches for as long as there have been humans; changers, thinkers, growers, challengers of the status quo; there have been witches as long as there have been heroes....

I want you all to go out and read about rebels, rabble-rousers, whistle-blowers, advanced thinkers, heroes, questioners of established truths, and troublemakers of all stripes. I want you to adopt new heroes.
I'll even be so kind as to provide you with some names.

Major General Smedley Butler.
Bill Hicks, Stacie Neldaughter. Bill Hicks, Julian of Norwich. Bill Hicks, William Butler Yeats. Bill Hicks, Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Bill Hicks, Dr Henryk Slawik. Bill Hicks, Deganadiwah. Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce. Bill Hicks, Xanana Gusmao. Bill Hicks, Daw Aung Sang Suu Kyi. Bill Hicks, Rigoberta Menchu Tum. Bill Hicks, Harvey Milk. Bill Hicks, John Muir. Bill Hicks, Rachel Carson. Bill Hicks, Dr Helen Caldicott. Bill Hicks, Dr Nawal El Saadawi. Bill Hicks, Sojourner Truth. Bill Hicks, Anna Mae Pictou Aquash. Bill Hicks, Richard Feynman. Bill Hicks, Wilma Rudolph. Bill Hicks, Roberto Clemente. That should be enough to get you started.

The fact is this; it is a rare hero indeed who didn't question some sort of status quo.

The Austin Chronicle Article / Alex Jones

One: he is not simply interested in doing his show. He is interested in promoting his website and encouraging people to buy his "crockumentaries". Two: he does NOT want to be left alone. He craves any and all attention and will use any attention to draw more people to his website (again, see: "Buy my Crockumentary!"). Three: Jones' saying that he's not part of any rivalry is just plain laughable, silly and frankly... it's disturbing....
Please, take the time to read
the article
and Louis Black's Page Two editorial.

Well, he's not as bad as Texe Marrs

He's one of the pieces of the propaganda matrix that's destablizing the administration's political base. His documentaries are definately high-camp, but his radio show tends to be tedious and overburdened with (the most bizarre) commercials. I really enjoyed the Order of Death, his latest expose on the Bohemian Grove, because he stumbled right into a group of pagans and witches waging magickal warfare, And his reaction was precisely what you'd expect from a extreme right-wing christian - kinda like what the fuck are these people doing? These guys are as bad as the grovers!

if he was really against the bohemian grove, you'd think he'd be supportive of the magickal activists, rather than labeling them satanists.

The Mind Has No Firewall - PARAMETERS, US Army War College Quarterly - Spring 1998

Russian army Major I. Chernishev, writing in the military journal Orienteer in February 1997, asserted that "psy" weapons are under development all over the globe. Specific types of weapons noted by Chernishev (not all of which have prototypes) were:

* A psychotronic generator, which produces a powerful electromagnetic emanation capable of being sent through telephone lines, TV, radio networks, supply pipes, and incandescent lamps.
* An autonomous generator, a device that operates in the 10-150 Hertz band, which at the 10-20 Hertz band forms an infrasonic oscillation that is destructive to all living creatures.
* A nervous system generator, designed to paralyze the central nervous systems of insects, which could have the same applicability to humans.
* Ultrasound emanations, which one institute claims to have developed. Devices using ultrasound emanations are supposedly capable of carrying out bloodless internal operations without leaving a mark on the skin. They can also, according to Chernishev, be used to kill.
* Noiseless cassettes. Chernishev claims that the Japanese have developed the ability to place infra-low frequency voice patterns over music, patterns that are detected by the subconscious. Russians claim to be using similar "bombardments" with computer programming to treat alcoholism or smoking.
* The 25th-frame effect, alluded to above, a technique wherein each 25th frame of a movie reel or film footage contains a message that is picked up by the subconscious. This technique, if it works, could possibly be used to curb smoking and alcoholism, but it has wider, more sinister applications if used on a TV audience or a computer operator.
* Psychotropics, defined as medical preparations used to induce a trance, euphoria, or depression. Referred to as "slow-acting mines," they could be slipped into the food of a politician or into the water supply of an entire city. Symptoms include headaches, noises, voices or commands in the brain, dizziness, pain in the abdominal cavities, cardiac arrhythmia, or even the destruction of the cardiovascular system.

There is confirmation from US researchers that this type of study is going on. Dr. Janet Morris, coauthor of The Warrior's Edge, reportedly went to the Moscow Institute of Psychocorrelations in 1991. There she was shown a technique pioneered by the Russian Department of Psycho-Correction at Moscow Medical Academy in which researchers electronically analyze the human mind in order to influence it. They input subliminal command messages, using key words transmitted in "white noise" or music. Using an infra-sound, very low frequency transmission, the acoustic psycho-correction message is transmitted via bone conduction....

Other researchers are studying high-frequency generators (those designed to stun the psyche with high frequency waves such as electromagnetic, acoustic, and gravitational); the manipulation or reconstruction of someone's thinking through planned measures such as reflexive control processes; the use of psychotronics, parapsychology, bioenergy, bio fields, and psychoenergy;[14] and unspecified "special operations" or anti-ESP training.

The last item is of particular interest. According to a Russian TV broadcast, the strategic rocket forces have begun anti-ESP training to ensure that no outside force can take over command and control functions of the force. That is, they are trying to construct a firewall around the heads of the operators.

We Will Bury You. In Mud. David E. Brown

A sample:

In 1966, the idea of raining on Vietnam became the top-secret Project Popeye, which ran for some seven years and included more than 2,600 cloud-seeding flights over Vietnam and Laos. The objective was simple: Make rain that would make or keep the Ho Chi Minh Trail—a main supply route for the North Vietnamese—so muddy that it was unusable. (Why "Popeye"? The artificially created rain was apparently called "Olive Oil.")

The story of the top-secret project—flown by the Air Force but controlled by the CIA and the White House—was broken in 1971 in Jack Anderson's national newspaper column, then, to greater fanfare, in July 1972, with Hersh's front-page story in The New York Times. And while there were no rules at the time about weather modification—or any environmental warfare, for that matter—the Nixon administration was not happy with Hersh's revelations. The White House and the State Department declined comment, and one unnamed official said, "This is one of those things where no one is going to say anything."6 (People said even less about CIA weather-modification in Cuba. During 1969 and 1970, planes from China Lake seeded clouds that rained over non-agricultural regions of Cuba, leaving at least some of the country's sugar cane fields dry.)

The eventual response was an international treaty, the Convention on the Publication of Military or Any Other Hostile Use of Environmental Modification Techniques, or ENMOD, which was ratified by the US in 1977. The main tenet of the treaty, which stands today, is this: "Each State Party to this Convention undertakes not to engage in military or any other hostile use of environmental modification techniques having widespread, long-lasting or severe effects as the means of destruction, damage or injury to any other State Party."7

Weather-control activities seem to have quieted down after ENMOD, but fortunately for the US military, the treaty has a loophole big enough to drive a truck through: It prohibits only action with "widespread, long-lasting or severe effects." When Air Force intelligence analysts turned their thoughts to the weather in the mid-1990s, they made up their own definition of these limits: widespread means affecting more than several hundred kilometers; long-lasting means for a period of months; and severe "involves serious or significant disruption or harm to human life, natural or economic resources, or other assets."8 Which is to say that, except for the human life part, most military applications, which tend to be short-term and localized, are allowed. These analysts' conclusions are contained in an extraordinary report, published in 1996, called "Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025." If the US intelligence community did ignore the weather for a while, "Owning the Weather" certainly made up for it. Envisioning a world where technology has made control over the local weather phenomena much more precise—and where a global network of sensors has greatly increased available atmospheric data—the writers declare that in three decades time, "US aerospace forces can 'own the weather'," and "shape the battlespace in ways never before possible."

Lawrence Wilkerson, a retired Army colonel who served as chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, addressed the administration's arrogance and ineptitude in a talk last week that was astonishingly candid by Washington standards.

"We have courted disaster in Iraq, in North Korea, in Iran," said Mr. Wilkerson. "Generally, with regard to domestic crises like Katrina, Rita ... we haven't done very well on anything like that in a long time. And if something comes along that is truly serious, something like a nuclear weapon going off in a major American city, or something like a major pandemic, you are going to see the ineptitude of this government in a way that will take you back to the Declaration of Independence."

The investigation of Karl Rove, Scooter Libby et al. is the most sensational story coming out of Washington at the moment. But the story with the gravest implications for the U.S. and the world is the overall dysfunction of the Bush regime. This is a bomb going "Tick, tick, tick . . ."...

In his view, if American forces were to pull out too quickly, the U.S. would end up returning to the Middle East with "five million men and women under arms" within a decade.

Nevertheless, he is appalled at the way the war was launched and conducted, and outraged by "the detainee abuse issue." In 10 years, he said, when this matter is "put to the acid test, ironed out, and people have looked at it from every angle, we are going to be ashamed of what we allowed to happen."

Mr. Wilkerson said he has taken some heat for speaking out, but feels that "as a citizen of this great republic," he has an obligation to do so. If nothing is done about the current state of affairs, he said, "it's going to get even more dangerous than it already is."
there's a lot more there, & I know I already linked to L. Wilkerson's speech, but it's just now hitting the blogosphere so I thought it was worth another mention.

to kill something, build an ivory tower around it

    Called to account

These pirates fly the flag of the Skull and Bones club of Yale, whose members occupy many key positions. They have no morals, but hide behind a pseudo Christian piety, much as Hitler did. This hypocritical religiosity is bolstered by a string of false prophets, preachers like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Tim LaHaye, who stand the Bible on its head, presenting God as a hateful, vengeful being who plots the destruction of humanity. Meanwhile, they are lining their own pockets. Whom do they serve? God or the devil?

They are about to be called to account for their evil plots. The Valerie Plame case is a tangled web indeed, but certain things stand out. 1) The pirates were proclaiming a war on terror, while destroying a key CIA network that was tracking terrorists- Valerie Plame's international network of intelligence agents. This is treason. 2) Cheney was one of the plotters, Bush knew about it pretty quickly and did nothing, which is obstruction of justice.

In other words, the president and vice president of the US are both traitors.

Propaganda Is The Opiate Of The Masses - Ben Mack

Ben Mack lays the smackdown - this is excellent, & I only present a snippet:
Distinguishing propaganda from marketing is like holding a distinction between drugs and alcohol, it’s a semantic distinction. There are billions of dollars to be lost if alcohol is lumped in with drugs, and there are trillions of dollars to be lost if Corporatocracy is held accountable for crimes against humanity.

Semantics is the heart of marketing. While semantics is the analyses of change in meaning, marketing is about controlling the change.

Meaning is not limited to words, but words are a common way we discuss meaning. Wittgenstein asserts he can only know things for which he has a word:

“The limits of my language are the limits of my mind. All I know is what I have words for.” Ludwig Wittgenstein, Philosopher (1889 – 1951)

But, it works the other way, too. Having two words can blind people from seeing that separate labels represent the same idea. Distinguishing drugs and alcohol is an obvious example. A subtle example can be found in mathematics: elliptic curves and modular forms. Having two separate labels so blinded the mathematical community that the original conjecture by Taniyama and Shimura was universally ridiculed by the their professional community, compelling Taniyama to commit suicide. Why do I bring this up? Because, math is supposed to be immune to psychological tricks and politicking. Because, suicide is only a particular of the stakes of this discussion. Genocide is the real stake of this of this game.

Propaganda is the feel-good pill of fascism. That’s my modern interpretation of: “Religion is the opiate of the masses.” Propaganda is what facilitates fascist citizens to believe they’re supporting what’s good and right. The keystone of manufacturing these beliefs is in controlling meaning. Words become the crux of this control.

“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words.” Philip K. Dick, Novelist (1928-1982)
he comes full circle down near the end - really you ought to just read the whole damn thing, but don't miss this: (In other words, Listen Up, Ultraculture:)
Saying propaganda is inherently wrong is a damned perspective, a perspective that things are inherently good or evil. This perspective reinforces the nature of propaganda. Propaganda was created as a cost-effective tool to spread righteousness.

Propaganda is a weapon in the war for reality.

Propaganda is a tool. Holding propaganda as inherently evil is like saying that TNT is evil. They are both strong forces. They can be used constructive or destructively. The good/evil perspective is more static than how I see the universe. And, I’m also not sure that dangerous things are always bad. I’m glad propaganda was employed to defeat Hitler. Marketing has emerged as a legitimate face of perception study and the study of effectiveness, a socially acceptable way to understand magic theory. These techniques and discussions would have had us all murdered 200 years ago.

Report: Texas Overpaid Miers in Land Sale

Texas officials paid Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers' family more than $100,000 for a small piece of land in 2000 _ 10 times the land's worth _ despite the state's objections to the way the price was determined, Knight Ridder Newspapers reported Saturday.

The three-member committee that determined the price included Peggy Lundy, a friend of Miers, and property-rights activist Cathie Adams, Knight Ridder reported. They were appointed to the panel by state District Judge David Evans, who had received at least $5,000 in campaign contributions from Miers' law firm....

According to Knight Ridder, the land _ which was part of a large Superfund pollution cleanup site _ was valued at less than 30 cents a square foot. But the panel recommended paying nearly $5 a square foot for it.

The price was later reduced from $106,915 to $80,915, but Miers has yet to return the $26,000 difference to the state

Capitol Hill Blue: Death Watch at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

White House insiders say George W. Bush’s mood swings have increased to the point where meetings with the President must be cancelled, schedules shifted and plans changed to keep a bitter, distracted leader from the public eye....

“The façade is gone and we are now seeing the Bush White House in all its incompetent glory,” says retired political science professor George Harleigh. “They’ve ignored reality for too long.”

With Congress distracted by growing scandals swirling around former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Washington has become a daily killing field for anyone involved in the GOP leadership.

This week, Former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s right-hand man unloaded on the Bush Administration during a speech to the New American Foundation, saying American foreign policy had been hijacked by “a Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal” that has destroyed this country’s credibility with its allies....

Republicans, the last to finally acknowledge the lies and duplicity of the Bush White House, no longer trust the Administration. When current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice testified before Congress this week and claimed “significant progress” in Iraq, Republican Senator Lincoln Chaffee of Rhode Island fired back: “Well, we all wish that were true, but we can't kid ourselves, either.”

Constantine 2 Could Be On the Way - MoviesOnline

I was really disappointed when I found out the details about the Hellblazer movie - I'd been readin the comics since issue 17. But as much as I was uncertain, I came out of the second viewing of Constantine convinced it was one of the most important movies of the year.. there's an absolution of Corporate America that's cut-off before it's complete - essentially an exorcism of the demonic aspects of corporate america, woven into the movie. applied Z. Effect + religious overtones. Intentional or not, that scene changed things culturally. It sinks into the brain of the religious and takes hold, exposing corporate culture as an unrepentant demonic construct.

I think that scene alone was more than worth the price of admission. & Keanu Reeves? In retrospect I thought he was excellent in the role, & I can't wait for A Scanner Darkly.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the producer of "Constantine", recently spoke with SciFi Wire about a possible sequel...

"We'd love to see a new Constantine," he said. "We had a good time making that movie. I'd love to do it again. It's just not in the works right now. ... He's such a great character I'd love to do it again."

Well if it's not in the works, I wouldn't count on seeing it anytime soon... but if the producer was happy with the box office returns, that probably means down the road we'll be hearing more about "Constantine 2".

    Graham Hancock: Supernatural

This is a book of page-turning story-telling with electrifying descriptions of the daunting journey that Hancock must undertake as he drinks hallucinogens with tribal shamans in the Amazon and self-experiments with DMT, psilocybin and the African visionary drug known as Iboga – “the plant that enables men to see the dead.” But Supernatural also has an exciting basis in the latest science – much of it so far largely unknown to the general public. Thus, although the book takes readers into unusual and daring areas of enquiry, and investigates extraordinary possibilities about human origins, and about the nature of consciousness and of reality, the argument is underpinned throughout by the discoveries and views of eminent scientists doing cutting-edge research.

Supernatural is published in the UK on 6 October 2005 and in the US during 2006

    About Marc Emery, Canadian Citizen:
If you were the guy everyone called the prince of pot and the U.S. drug czar came to town rattling his saber, you’d probably have the sense to stay out of his way. At the very least, you wouldn’t go out of your way to antagonize him, let alone pay $500 for the privilege. But that’s exactly what Marc Emery did. Emery is a Canadian entrepreneur who presided over the world’s largest marijuana seed sales business. In November 2002, when John Walters came to Vancouver, Emery bought a table at a Board of Trade luncheon, invited nine friends along, and—after nearly tricking Walters into posing for a photo with him—mercilessly heckled the czar (whose speech warned the Canadians about the errors of their drug-tolerant ways) before heading outside to spark up a fatty.

In July, after 10 years of watching as Emery sent seeds across the border, webcast his antiprohibition rants from the HQ of the British Columbia Marijuana Party (“Overgrow the Government”) on Pot-TV, and mailed out Cannabis Culture, the bimonthly he edits, U.S. drug warriors finally struck back. Acting at their behest, the Canadian police busted Emery in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, where he was due to appear at Hemp Fest 2005, on a three-count indictment filed by the U.S. attorney’s office after an 18-month investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Emery, 47, and two associates were charged with conspiracy to produce and sell marijuana, as well as money laundering—crimes that could carry life sentences.

I first met Emery just after the drug-czar incident and his second run to be Vancouver’s mayor. Swaggering through “Vansterdam,” the neighborhood of cannabis cafés and head shops that he helped establish, Emery seemed to have walked out of the pages of the Ayn Rand books he discovered when he was 21 (around the time he discovered pot) or the superhero comics he sold in his first business, started when he was 13. Both Howard Roark and Spider-Man, he told me then, “had this total obsession with doing the right thing. I really related to these misunderstood people who had so much power.”
Karen Tandy, head of the DEA.., ..proclaimed that it dealt a blow “not only to the marijuana trafficking trade…but also to the marijuana legalization movement,” whose lobbyists, she added, “now have one less pot of money to rely on.”

“She makes it clear that her objective was to cripple the movement,” says John Conroy, who leads Emery’s defense team and plans to use Tandy’s statement to fight his extradition.

remember: EMERY SEEDS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN by the DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
    http://www.emeryseeds.com/

    He's A CANADIAN.

    In his own words:

Under Drug Kingpin legislation, selling over 60,000 seeds qualifies for the death penalty in the United States. The manufacture or distribution of 60,000 kilograms of marijuana, 60,000 plants or 60,000 seeds all are included in death penalty provisions of the medieval law passed by a Newt Gingrich congress. I would be the first person under this recent law who could qualify to be executed for the activity I have clearly done with the tacit approval of everyone in Canada.

Revenue Canada received $578,000 in personal income taxes (1999 to 2005) on income that was explicitly from the sale of marijuana seeds, and they ALWAYS were aware of it. It said “Marijuana Seed Vendor” on my tax returns. I explained my entire banking and money systems and always gave income tax all access to my accounts so they could verify everything I said was true. I told them the Money Mart location where I cashed money orders; my bank accounts were explained so they could track the flow of money. I explained how expenses and disbursements worked in the incriminating world of seeds. They knew how it all worked because I had nothing to hide. The government of Canada received about $378,000 of this money; the provincial government of British Columbia received about $200,000.

As to politicians, every Member of Parliament in Canada, all 305, had a free subscription to our magazine, which often their assistants read and perused if not the Member themselves, for eight years. My seed catalogue was in every issue. They knew it was there. None ever complained to me or the police about it. Former MP Svend Robinson has said that when he was NDP Health Critic and he asked Health Canada where medical cannabis people were supposed to obtain seeds, “Health Canada said to go to the internet and buy seeds there.” And that’s what he told them to do: buy seeds on the internet. In fact, that’s what Health Canada told others also in letters that we have from Health Canada in 2003.

(He's not only a Canadian, He's under an implied mandate to furnish seeds to Canadians.)

VOTAN - Gods from Mayan Mythology

    Votan.

I'm reading Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods right now, and I ran across a brief mention of Votan, one of the virachocas, or a figure much like virachoca.

    Wotan.

somewhere buried in the books I've read, Wotan is hinted at as being an outsider from the norse pantheon, who brought with him civilizing capabilities.

Both of these individuals were supposed to be able to revive the dead.

    Were they the same person?

    check this out:

"We have fixed the special attention of our readers upon this Votan, or Wodan, an American who appears of the same family with the Wods or Odins of the Goths and of the people of Celtic origin. Since, according to the learned researches of Sir William Jones, Odin and Buddha are probably the same person, it is curious to see the names of Bondvar, Wodansday, and Votan designating in India, Scandinavia, and in Mexico the day of a brief period."

Case For WTC Tower Demolition Sealed By Griffin

Dr. Griffin listed ten characteristics of the collapses which all indicate that the buildings did not fall due to being struck by planes or the ensuing fires. He explained the buildings fell suddenly without any indication of collapse. They fell straight into their own footprint at free-fall speed, meeting virtually no resistance as they fell--a physical impossibility unless all vertical support was being progressively removed by explosives severing the core columns.

The towers were built to withstand the impact of a Boeing 707 and 160 mile per hour winds, and nothing about the plane crashes or ensuing fires gave any indication of causing the kind of damage that would be necessary to trigger even a partial or progressive collapse, much less the shredding of the buildings into dust and fragments that could drop at free-fall speed.

The massive core columns--the most significant structural feature of the buildings, whose very existence is denied in the official 9/11 Commission Report--were severed into uniform 30 foot sections, just right for the 30-foot trucks used to remove them quickly before a real investigation could transpire.

There was a volcanic-like dust cloud from the concrete being pulverized, and no physical mechanism other than explosives can begin to explain how so much of the buildings' concrete was rendered into extremely fine dust. The debris was ejected horizontally several hundred feet in huge fan shaped plumes stretching in all directions, with telltale "squibs" following the path of the explosives downward.

These are all facts that have been avoided by mainstream and even most of the alternative media. Again, these are characteristics of the kind of controlled demolitions that news people and firefighters were describing on the morning of 9/11.

Former CIA Analyst: Government May Be Manufacturing Fake Terrorism

"We have to be careful, if somebody does this kind of provocation, big violent explosions of some kind, we have to not take the word of the masters there in Washington that this was some terrorist event because it could well be a provocation allowing them, or seemingly to allow them to get what they want."

Mr McGovern then went on to reveal his opinions on the possible upcoming indictments within the Bush Administration, siding with the view that the truth will out and the Administration will come toppling down because of the way it has continually forged a bedrock of lies to justify the War In Iraq.

But he warned that we have to stay vigilant and continually expose the lies because we no longer have a free mainstream press.

    Because. Be a cause.

Have you noticed how crazy conspiracy theories don't seem so crazy anymore? Is it Philip K Nixon, re-structuring culture to undermine the NWO? For the last two days I've been furiously working on audio snippets - combining and recombining from several weeks of occasional compiling... I don't think it's music.

I think it's a metalinguistic artefact (wait, music is a metalinguistic artefact. okay, it's like music.)

for the record (well, for the tracks) a lot of my sources come from these trackers..

this project is the natural organic outgrowth of encountering audio media... remixing and sending this stuff back out into the net is a form of sorcery. being noticed and downloaded is flattering, but honestly I'm doing this to gum up the whole superstructure, not to be popularized... I'm doing this because I can't not do this.

& it seems to be working. or I'm schitzoaffective obsessional compulsive. (or both, or neither)

THE BRAD BLOG: "EXCLUSIVE: CONSERVATIVE GROUP DENOUNCES ANN COULTER!"

She's a fucking fruitcake -and she's probably an administration plant, say an operation mockingbird-style agent- and now some on the right have figured out that she's a phony:

Daniel Borchers has been calling out "fake Conservativism" -- as we refer here at The BRAD BLOG to those who use the tenets of the true Conservative Movement merely for cynical, opportunistic political gain -- for years.

As well, Borchers has created and released exclusively to BRAD BLOG, a PowerPoint presentation entitled "The Gospel of Ann".

    The
presentation, which we've converted into downloadable streaming video, excoriates the controversial Coulter's religious opportunism. It was inspired, according to Borchers, "by Ann Coulter's 'jaw-dropping' expression of faith in God, a faith which otherwise seems so empty in everything Coulter does."

Indeed, Coulter's "faith" may be as empty and phony as her self-proclaimed "conservative" beliefs. The presentation points out the recent TIME Magazine profile of Coulter which implies that she is a member of Redeemer Presbyterian, an evangelical Christian church in New York, and yet the ministry at the church never seems to have heard of her!

The Redeemer church, "whose non-political stance is well-known, disavows all hateful
and hostile speech," according to Borchers' presentation, had to
"Google" her name to figure out who she was! Apparently Coulter is not a member of that church at all!

The complete "Gospel of Ann" video, along with selected excerpts and screenshots is available at the end of this article.

    Operation Northwoods - Wikipedia

Operation Northwoods or Northwoods was the code name for various false flag actions, including terror attacks on U.S. soil, proposed in 1962 by senior U.S. Department of Defense leaders to generate U.S. public support for military action against Cuba.

The proposal was presented in a document entitled "Justification for US Military Intervention in Cuba," a draft memorandum (pdf) written by the Department of Defense (DoD) and Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) representative to the Caribbean Survey Group. The draft memo was presented by the JCS to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara on March 13 with one paragraph approved, as a preliminary submission for planning purposes. McNamara rejected the proposal.

The proposal's existence was often dismissed as unfounded "conspiracy theory" until the draft memorandum was declassified in recent years through a Freedom of Information Act request by the National Security Archive.

Philosophy Talk: The Blog: Propaganda and the Human Mind

    via amsam:

Can human minds be educated so that we always prefer the relentless pursuit of evidence and unyielding arguments to comforting and easy falsehoods? That is surely an empirical question. Unfortunately, many of the foibles of human reasoning exploited by the masters of propaganda and marketing turn out to be rather robust. On the other hand, there is a growing body of evidence that at least some of our foibles do disappear when matters are rightly framed. This is a complex subject to which I won't even try to do justice here. The temporary bottom line is that we just don't know decisively how much education can achieve in correcting the cognitive foibles that make us all so vulnerable to the masters of manipulation. Moreover, our educational institutions being what they are are controlled by who they are controlled by, I doubt that education alone will ever supplant the need for wide-scale social reforms that redistribute and reconfigure the means of public communication and representation.

FT.com / World - Transcript: Colonel Wilkerson on US foreign policy

Just a few passages from the transcript:You simply cannot deal with all the challenges that government has to deal with, meet all the demands that government has to meet in the modern age, in the 21st century, without admitting that it is hugely complex. That doesn’t mean you have to add a Department of Homeland Security with 70,000 disparate entities thrown under somebody in order to handle them. But it does mean that your bureaucracy has got to be staffed with good people and they’ve got to work together and they’ve got to work under leadership they trust and leadership that, on basic issues, they agree with.

And that if they don’t agree, they can dissent and dissent and dissent. And if their dissent is such that they feel so passionate about it, they can resign and know why they’re resigning. That is not the case today. And when I say that is not the case today, I stop on 26 January 2005.

I don’t know what the case is today. I wish I did. But the case that I saw for 4 plus years was a case that I have never seen in my studies of aberration, bastardizations, [inaudible], changes to the national security [inaudible] process. What I saw was a cabal between the Vice President of the United States, Richard Cheney, and the Secretary of Defense and [inaudible] on critical issues that made decisions that the bureaucracy did not know were being made.

And then when the bureaucracy was presented with those decisions and carried them out, it was presented in such a disjointed incredible way that the bureaucracy often didn’t know what it was doing as it moved to carry them out.

Read George Packer’s book The Assassin’s [Gate] if you haven’t already. George Packer, a New Yorker, reporter for The New Yorker, has got it right. I just finished it and I usually put marginalia in a book but, let me tell you, I had to get extra pages to write on.

And I wish, I wish I had been able to help George Packer write that book. In some places I could have given him a hell of a lot more specifics than he’s got. But if you want to read how the Cheney Rumsfeld cabal flummoxed the process, read that book....[snip]

So you’ve got this collegiality there between the Secretary of Defense and the Vice President. And then you’ve got a President who is not versed in international relations. And not too much interested in them either.

And so it’s not too difficult to make decisions in this, what I call Oval Office cabal, and decisions often that are the opposite of what you thought were made in the formal process.

(An example of a rather sledgehammer attempt at describing Fnord. The paradox of a page saying it doesn't exist where it must obviously exist in order to state it does not. Therefore, it is less a paradox and simply a lie. Fnord.)

    I Can See the fnords!
    by Binky
Everyday the people are bombarded with thousands of fnords - in newspapers, newscasts, television shows, radio programs, lectures, texbooks, novels, etc. Therefore, as the fnords are creating unease at every turn, a lack of fnords causes great relief - much like taking off a heavy pack after hiking all day. The folks at Madison Avenue realize this all too well, and use it to their benefit. By including absolutely no fnords in their advertisements they create a sense of well being that always occurs, quite inexplicably, whenever their product is advertised. After a while poeple begin to associate well being with that product subconsciously. Then, next time they are shopping, their subconscious urges them to buy that which relieves the unease, and they buy the advertised product.

NSA's Subliminal Posthypnotic Scripts: 8.3.6.5. Religious Relevance and Convictions:

The NSA typically implants posthypnotic suggestions that are clearly referenced in the Bible. The subject may be punished (through negative reinforcement) by anything that is referenced in the Bible to substantiate the validity of the "Word of God". When the NSA does not follow the standard Biblical references, most subjects fail to recognize the contradictions out of ignorance or an inability to rationalize, or, they find other ways to justify the events to receive peace from God (NSA). This component of the NSA process is to provide the subject with an increased sense of fear and intimidation resulting from God's presence and force. "Thou shall not disobey God".

    t r u t h o u t - William Rivers Pitt: The Heart of the Matter

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, with deliberation and intent, took this country to war in Iraq based on false premises, inflated intelligence and bald-faced scare tactics. They used September 11 against their own people to get what they wanted. That is the heart of this matter.

White House Iraq Group, or WHIG. "Its inception in August 2002, seven months before the invasion of Iraq," wrote Rich, "was never announced. Its eight members included Mr. Rove, Mr. Libby, Condoleezza Rice and the spinmeisters Karen Hughes and Mary Matalin. Its mission: to market a war in Iraq. Of course, the official Bush history would have us believe that in August 2002 no decision had yet been made on that war. Dates bracketing the formation of WHIG tell us otherwise. On July 23, 2002 - a week or two before WHIG first convened in earnest - a British official told his peers, as recorded in the now famous Downing Street memo, that the Bush administration was ensuring that 'the intelligence and facts' about Iraq's W.M.D.'s 'were being fixed around the policy' of going to war."

WHIG, and its intention to sell an unnecessary war to a shell-shocked public, is only half the story. The other half of the manipulative sales team could be found in the neighborhood occupied by the Department of Defense. The Office of Special Plans, or OSP, was created by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld specifically to second-guess and reinterpret intelligence data to justify war in Iraq. Think of it like baseball: the OSP pitched, and WHIG caught.

The OSP was on no government payroll and suffered no Congressional oversight. Their tainted information and interpretations overtopped the Iraq data being provided by the State Department and CIA. The OSP was able to accomplish this thanks to devoted patronage from high-ranking members of the administration, most prominently Vice-President Cheney.

The highest levels of the OSP were staffed by heavy-hitters like Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Douglas J. Feith and William Luti, a former Navy officer who worked for Cheney before joining the Pentagon. When the OSP wanted to intimidate analysts into shaping conclusions to fit the already-made war decision, Cheney went to CIA headquarters on unprecedented visits. Once there, he demanded "forward-leaning" interpretations of the evidence. When Cheney was unable to go to the CIA, his chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, went in his place.

That's it, right there. Mr. Libby may be a target of Mr. Fitzgerald, but no one should forget the trips Cheney personally made to Langley in order to wring war-supporting evidence out of the analysts. He went himself. His fingerprints are all over the scene.

One name that has been lost in the shuffle of history is that of Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, who worked in the office of Under Secretary of Defence for Policy Douglas Feith until her retirement. Kwiatkowski charged two years ago that the operations she witnessed during her tenure in Feith's office, and particularly those of the OSP, constituted "a subversion of constitutional limits on executive power and a co-optation through deceit of a large segment of the Congress."

"What I saw was aberrant, pervasive and contrary to good order and discipline," Kwiatkowski wrote after her retirement. "If one is seeking the answers to why peculiar bits of 'intelligence' found sanctity in a presidential speech, or why the post-Saddam occupation has been distinguished by confusion and false steps, one need look no further than the process inside the Office of the Secretary of Defense."
WHIG & OSP. WHIG & OSP. WHIG & OSP.

I read this about a year or so ago - it's just been posted to gpod

very good reading - very inspiring. I recommend this especially to Ty - read this man, it'll challenge you.

plus its a good look at what the cutting edge looked like the last time our culture was at a tipping point - drawing correlations with today is almost inevitable.

USNews.com: Wounded soldiers too often find themselves having to battle the Army over pay mistakes (10/24/05)

The thousands of wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan have overwhelmed the Army's aging finance system. An internal audit conducted earlier this year by Hurst, then a captain in an Army finance battalion, showed that 82 percent of the 1st Infantry Division soldiers wounded in Iraq had "significant errors" in their paychecks. Based on his own investigation of 123 wounded 1st Infantry Division soldiers, and another examination of problems with soldiers stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, Hurst estimates in his March 2005 audit that up to 4,000 of the soldiers seriously injured in Iraq have encountered payroll problems.

Congress has already raised concerns about National Guard and Reserve soldiers who have had pay problems, and the House Government Reform Committee plans further hearings this week to examine the military's attempts to improve that pay system. But the audit of the 1st Infantry Division shows that the errors are not confined to reservists. Indeed, the Government Accountability Office, in the wake of the hearings, has expanded an ongoing investigation to include pay problems with active-duty troops.

    What is Ultraculture?

Ultraculture is one manifestation of a phenomenon that has been ongoing since the beginning under many different names and guises.

It exists at the level of the morphogenetic field and may be contacted at will.

Those seeking to align themselves formally with the developing social network can do so by sending documentation of magic they have done to create positive change in physical manifestation.

This may be as simple as a flower garden planted in a blighted area.

It may be as complex as a full magical ritual undertaken to create a dramatic positive change in the world.

This is limited only by your will and imagination. Surprise us. Impress us.

We are not interested in theory or jargon. We only require one thing for admission: Proof that your magic has worked.

    MEET THE WORLD

if yer rich, yer more important.
    Terror tip for rich
E-mails warned bigs of city attack

"I have just received a most disturbing call from one of my oldest friends from growing up in Washington," one E-mail began. "He called with a very specific caution to not enter or use the New York City subway system from Oct. 7 through 10th."

A second E-mail sounded a similar ominous tone: "As some of you know my father works for Homeland Security, at a very high position and receives security briefings on a daily basis.

"The only information that I can pass on is that everyone should at all costs not ride the subway for the next two weeks in major areas of NYC."

One of the E-mails was dated Oct. 3 with a 6:05 p.m. time stamp, about 90 minutes before Bloomberg was fully briefed on the threat, a police source said.

I like throwing phrases into the google search engine to see what shows up... Here's one:
Google search = "the reich are more important than the poor"

It led me to this blog entry on last year's presidential debates:
    Utopian Hell - The Debate
Bush also keeps talking about how hard his job is. If I were a manager, and an employee came to me telling me that their job was hard, I’d think that maybe they weren’t the person for the job. Perhaps they can’t handle the pressure they’re under. It’s too difficult for them. Time to shift the weight.

He also keeps talking about sending mixed messages, and whether or not we send the appropriate messages to the world.

“I’m not going to make decisions that I think are wrong for America.” – Bush
“You can not lead if you send mixed messages.” – Bush
“What I won’t do is change my core values.” – Bush

So let’s examine the messages he’s sent to Americans:

    Outsourcing is okay.
Lying is alright if you’ve got better spin doctors.
Torture is okay if you’re the good guy.
The rich are more important than the poor.
People who don’t have health care don’t deserve health care.
    Offensive is better than defensive.
    Women deserve no rights.
    Marriage is the only way.
    Gays deserve no rights.

Great message to send, and if these represent the president’s ‘core values’, then there is no reason this man should remain in office.

Why is he in office? Are rich people more important than poor, are white people better than black, are we actually imprisoned in concentration camps called cities, and why is the counterculture unable to unclutter the pathway of power?

Channel Null addresses this very question in the article Bullet Pathways and Branching Histories:
In fact, I'd suggest that the counterculture works more like a symbiote of the mainstream than an occulted current. Tim Leary was close friends with G. Gordon Liddy when they started "touring the country as ex-cons debating the soul of America" ; Captain Al "Tripps" Hubbard mined uranium and distributed LSD. To look at this in a sane way, try looking at discrete units of time, or discrete causal chains. The CIA-Oil-Narco-Pedo Cabal, under Bush I as CIA director, had been working toward something. Seeing it as a current allows us to trace its history backward, to find out what path it took before it collided into the convergent narrative. It tipped its invisible hand during the JFK assassination; now, we can stand to gain by looking back at the history of this current, to make more accurate predictions about where it will next crash into convergence, our consensus reality history.

We're struggling under the weight of a corporate republic, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it except try to shift out from under the burden.

    Fog Facts by Larry Beinhart

I purchased Fog Facts two days ago at a local borders. The clerk hadn't heard of the book, and seemed surprised when I told her exactly where it was in the store.

There's a lot of good stuff in this book, but this is my favorite quote:
"John Maynard Keynes was a British economist who invented the idea of deficit spending to stimulate the economy, especially at times of high unemployment. The method he recommended was investment in public works, which would employ people--immediately solving the unemployment issue--who would then have money to spend, and the aggregate total of spending and consumption would increase, boosting the entire economy.
    "That's demand-side economics.
"Supply-side economics is the Republican inversion of the idea. It is that you give the money to the investing class and they will supply more things which the unemployed will want so much that they will... they will... rob convenience stores to obtain them."

Anyway.. I just finished reading it. The word "to" is missing from the third paragraph on page 182, but other than that solitary annoyance the text sparkled - this is a magnificent book. Buy it. Give it to friends. Leave it in coffee shops, airports, and bus terminals. Purchase multiple copies and take them to dentist offices, hospitals, and hotel lobbies. I'd do it myself but I'm a freelance artist and writer, I could barely afford my own copy.

So, since buying multiple copies and giving them away is outside of my financial capability, instead I decided to do what I could do, which is provide a list of the URL's cited in the text of the book... provide footnotes online for this extraordinarily important and timely non-fiction work. Larry Beinhart has not asked me to do this. He doesn't know who the fuck I am. That's fine, I'm a pretty shifty fella, and I don't get out much.

yet another sex magick social network & more

Sacred Sex, Recreational Sex, Procreational Sex...

    Sex Magick?

I've been thinking alot about sex lately - so tonight I listened to melissa gira's whorecast and I found her podcast quite helpful in laying the groundwork for my ideas on this topic.

a few questions currently running through my mind:
what is the best way to piss off a wiccan?
must sacred sexuality immediately mean tantra?
is recreational sex the next big tourist industry?
will procreational sex dwindle in favor of artificial wombs?
why is there such a division in most books on magick between rituals and sex magick? (peter carroll is a notable exception with liber null & psychonaut. I also believe Prime Chaos by phil hine also was straightforward, but not having a copy on hand I can't go back and check at the moment)

isn't it odd that Astarte was renamed Ashtoreth, and did this linguistic manipulation begin the long slow descent into patriarchy? What with all the emphasis on Lilith in the woman's movement I think Astarte is getting a little overlooked. & of course, then there's Mary Magdalene, the real "beloved disciple" of christ...

I find the religious overtones a little heavy-handed though.. magick, and spirituality, and experience - those are my watch-words, not religion. So I'm going to try and peel away from religous doctrine & it's finer points - words words words like the bard says, and focus instead on my own experiences - I don't have kids, I don't want kids, I'm not a goat - so I won't be going into procreational sex either, except in the most superfluous round-about way - Instead I'm going to examine sacred & recreational sex, and possibly why this is being cracked down on by the dominator paradigm out there. The arrest of chris, who made headlines because he traded porn for unfiltered photos from the iraq warzone isn't much of a surprise.. who didn't see that coming? But shutting down a text-only site? Freedom from speech, don't you know...

joseph max's article on sex magick is a good read - from there, a perusal of real magick's related articles provides a good overview

So this is sex magick, but is it sacred?

Does sacred sexuality mean only tantric or hermetic practices? Sacred, sacral... and what is this Heiros Gamos?

here's a passage that sheds some light on the topic:
Neither-Neither: Austin Osman Spare and the Underworld by Marcus M. JungkurthAs in the famous mythological motif of Hades' abduction and rape of Persephone which, as we have to remember, is not just psychopathy but a central iniatory mystery in the Eleusis myths, the archetype of Hades bears an intrinsic erotic component whilst, as indicated above, it is at the same time turning matters upside down. No wonder, then, that also in Spare's interior worlds Thanatos merges with Eros, the spirit and principle of life, who however in this context is to be regarded the brother of death and not the principle that will save us from it. Eros as an archetype also bears distinct female qualities relating him to the anima principle, both referring to the reflexive instinct which Jung associated with the basis of consciousness, and so he defined her as the archetype of life itself, as the personification which unconsciously involves us with larger collectivities of both inner and outer worlds. In this sense we can speak of the anima as the projection - making actor, the Shakti and the Maya that gives life to a person and in the artist serves as his muse. The concepts of death and sexuality are thus intimately interwoven which explains why in ancient mythology many of the early Goddesses like the Phoenician Astarte or even Aphrodite in Sparta and on Cyprus were both Goddesses of Love as well as of War and Death; many other examples can be found in Egypt, Mexico and Mesopotamia.

In other words, A.O.Spare may be the most important western magician because he gazed unflinchingly into the true face of the sacred marriage. "divided for love's sake, for the chance of union" = "AHA: We are united for Art's sake For the chance of division"

we're getting closer to the line of demarcation between sacred sexuality and sex magick... and I'm trying to keep from moving into eastern thought, because I don't know much about it. I recommend checking into the American Nath Society, because shivanath is a contributor to key23, and he has put a lot of effort into trying to explore and explain this in plain language.

okay.. I think that's all I have right now for this post.
